Media language

1) How are the cover lines written to make the audience want to buy the magazine?

They are written in bold writing an in red to crave tour attention the colour red makes you feel hungry and lustful 

2) What are the connotations of the Heat colour scheme on this particular front cover?

The colour red makes you feel lustful

3) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. paparazzi images or aspects of mise-en-scene such props, costume, make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)

They use images of celebrities that brings attention to the magazine with the clothes they wear and what they look like. The outfit they were using brings a certain sense of class and authority another thing they do is if the base of the magazine is based on the celebrities that are now old will attract older people and the magazine will gain more popularity. In the magazine it shows a lot of female celebrities this shows that the magazine if mostly directed towards women and not men. The uses of the colour pink also shows that this magazine is mostly directed towards women since stereotypically women like  the colour pink.  

4) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Heat? List at least three differences and explain the effect on audiences.

Heat uses serif while Tatler uses sans this shows that Tatler is for upper class people whereas Heat is for working class people. Tatler is also more traditional whereas Heat is mostly modern. Tatler is uses colours like purple to indicate power whereas Heat is mostly directed towards working class people it uses colour like red to show that Heat is more inferior that Tatler  

Media Representations

1) What type of celebrities appear on the front cover of Heat? List them here. 

 Megan, harry, Jordan lee and Cheryl 

2) How are celebrities represented in Heat? (Positively? Negatively? Reinforcing or challenging stereotypes?)

They are represented as positive which reinforces the stereotype of celebrity's being perfect and we should admire them and that they can do nothing wrong however they also subvert this stereotype by gossiping about Celebrities life's and there relationship's.

3) How are women represented on the cover of Heat? Think about both images and cover lines here.

women are oversexualized in the this magazine this done by the colours that are shown in the magazine. Women are represented as the main interest in gossip as most the topics in the cover have to do with women celebrities. 

4) How do Heat and Tatler represent social class? What different social classes can you find in the features and celebrities on the cover? (E.g. middle/upper class / working class) 

Tatler is a magazine for the upper class. This can be shown through the central image and colour scheme. However, Heat is a magazine for the working class. This can be shown through the colour scheme, images and cover lines.
