Denotation and connotation

 Denotation

A boy who is wearing a dark blue and black T-shirt. He is sitting in a chair and there is also a house behind him. There is white and blue texts. The advert is from WaterAid because of the name on the top left corner.

Connotation

The boy seems sad maybe because he does not have water because the adverts name is the WaterAid. The white writing is suggesting that people need to help with anything they can so that there are less deaths. In the background you can see that the boy is living in a undeveloped area and that the boy is poor because of the dark pale blue looking T-shirt.

Analysis                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The advert suggest that children across the world don't have enough water and are living in poor conditions. The phrase "Dig toilets Not graves" suggests that the adverts wants the audience to the people anyway way possible since this advert is about WaterAid then it wants us to provide water in anyway possible.
